7th grade year

When I first came in through those front doors, it was a whole new world. There were hallways full of students, stacks of papers of worksheets or homework, hard assignments, and hour later lunchtime. First day of school in English we had to write a “letter” about what we did over the summer and turn it in by the following Thursday. It may not seem hard but I think they shouldn’t give out assignments on the very first day so school.

Almost every day I’ve stayed up past at least 10 pm for HW/studying for hard tests, then waking up at 5 in the morning to get ready for the day. Every day when I get home, I know I’ve got the same story, Check the calender for every class and get started on what every impossible assignment I have to do that day.

It is now May, finally and the year is practically over and forgotten. Only got 2 more weeks left and there’s STILL loads of work. Also there’s another problem, find or complete missing assignments, and I’ve got a staggering number. Now I’ve got more worrying about all this other stuff that’s stuck inside my mind.

So yeah, that’s it.

Television

The most important thing we’ve learned,
So far as children are concerned,
Is never, NEVER, NEVER let
Them near your television set —
Or better still, just don’t install
The idiotic thing at all.
In almost every house we’ve been,
We’ve watched them gaping at the screen.
They loll and slop and lounge about,
And stare until their eyes pop out.
(Last week in someone’s place we saw
A dozen eyeballs on the floor.)
They sit and stare and stare and sit
Until they’re hypnotised by it,
Until they’re absolutely drunk
With all that shocking ghastly junk.
Oh yes, we know it keeps them still,
They don’t climb out the window sill,
They never fight or kick or punch,
They leave you free to cook the lunch
And wash the dishes in the sink —
But did you ever stop to think,
To wonder just exactly what
This does to your beloved tot?
IT ROTS THE SENSE IN THE HEAD!
IT KILLS IMAGINATION DEAD!
IT CLOGS AND CLUTTERS UP THE MIND!
IT MAKES A CHILD SO DULL AND BLIND
HE CAN NO LONGER UNDERSTAND
A FANTASY, A FAIRYLAND!
HIS BRAIN BECOMES AS SOFT AS CHEESE!
HIS POWERS OF THINKING RUST AND FREEZE!
HE CANNOT THINK — HE ONLY SEES!
‘All right!’ you’ll cry. ‘All right!’ you’ll say,
‘But if we take the set away,
What shall we do to entertain
Our darling children? Please explain!’
We’ll answer this by asking you,
‘What used the darling ones to do?
‘How used they keep themselves contented
Before this monster was invented?’
Have you forgotten? Don’t you know?
We’ll say it very loud and slow:
THEY … USED … TO … READ! They’d READ and READ,
AND READ and READ, and then proceed
To READ some more. Great Scott! Gadzooks!
One half their lives was reading books!
The nursery shelves held books galore!
Books cluttered up the nursery floor!
And in the bedroom, by the bed,
More books were waiting to be read!
Such wondrous, fine, fantastic tales
Of dragons, gypsies, queens, and whales
And treasure isles, and distant shores
Where smugglers rowed with muffled oars,
And pirates wearing purple pants,
And sailing ships and elephants,
And cannibals crouching ’round the pot,
Stirring away at something hot.
(It smells so good, what can it be?
Good gracious, it’s Penelope.)
The younger ones had Beatrix Potter
With Mr. Tod, the dirty rotter,
And Squirrel Nutkin, Pigling Bland,
And Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle and-
Just How The Camel Got His Hump,
And How the Monkey Lost His Rump,
And Mr. Toad, and bless my soul,
There’s Mr. Rat and Mr. Mole-
Oh, books, what books they used to know,
Those children living long ago!
So please, oh please, we beg, we pray,
Go throw your TV set away,
And in its place you can install
A lovely bookshelf on the wall.
Then fill the shelves with lots of books,
Ignoring all the dirty looks,
The screams and yells, the bites and kicks,
And children hitting you with sticks-
Fear not, because we promise you
That, in about a week or two
Of having nothing else to do,
They’ll now begin to feel the need
Of having something to read.
And once they start — oh boy, oh boy!
You watch the slowly growing joy
That fills their hearts. They’ll grow so keen
They’ll wonder what they’d ever seen
In that ridiculous machine,
That nauseating, foul, unclean,
Repulsive television screen!
And later, each and every kid
Will love you more for what you did

First off, just looking at the name, Television, makes me think,” I need to see this”. After clicking the name I was amazed. Just how way it was formatted and how every lines rhymed.

Favorite quote

“What ever the mind of a man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” -Napoleon Hill

What do I think of that? First thing thing that I thought of was the words he used. Basically saying is it takes believing in yourself to accomplish goals in your life. Also the fact that it uses words that fit together. For example, believing is achieving. Those words go together, mean the same thing, just as the words in the quote. Following that, it can inspire other people to do those actions to achieve their goal in life.

Lake LBJ

The air is cool, boats strolling against the water. We start up the motor, the boat sways as it pushes against the waves. We’re on Lake LBJ and its one my places to be.

I loves going to LBJ because boat rides are fun. They’re fun because you can waterski, tube, swim, and have a good time. It fells nice when the air is blows in your face then speeding along the lakeside. I like to tube because you can go really fast and it feels like a roller coaster. When you get on the tube it feels like you’re gonna fly forward when the boat starts moving.

Another reason is, The weather is nicer than what it is like here, in ausstin, where it is all hot and dry during the summer. The air is cool and is mostly breezy. Usally the lake water level is filled up to the wall, unlike other lakes in the area, so you can just go right out in the water.

And thats why Lake LBJ is my favorite place in austin.

Why You Shouldn’t Overfeed Cats

Cats–fluffy, small, big–most cats, I asume, like eating wet food. Sometimes the owner will overfeed them. If you do, they will get overweight. People should not feed their cats too much food.

If they do, the cat will get fat. For example, the cat will bulge immediately. making them look hilarious Then when they run, you can just see their stomach just jiggle along as they run. I think this is hilarious.

Overeating can be bad for the cat.  The cat will probably get diabetes, which can harm the cat.  The cat will be unhealthy.  It will probably not live long.

These are the reasons that result when you overfeed cats.

Weather

It was a cold, rainy, dark, cloudy fall evening. Every drop plowing down on the streets. At first it was just a little sprinkles coming down. This only lasted for about 15-20 minutes.
Then the clouds grew darker and darker. A huge wall of pouring raindrops came flashing in. Then came lighting, and thunder after that. It was so intense that it seemed like it would continue for hours. But it only lasted for about an hour.

The clouds drew and the sky started to get lighter as the sun revealed itself. Now there was not a cloud in the sky. Then the day returned to the way it was: A warm fall evening.

Homework

Sometimes I forget about it. Sometimes I never do it. I don’t even think about it. I say to myself I will do this when I get home, but Sometimes I never do it and leave it aside. I would rather do something I would enjoy more than just writing down words on a sheet of paper. Then I think if I don’t do this I will get a 0. If I get that it will effect my average grade, which then If I don’t have a good grade I wont move on to the next grade. Just thinking of that says “I need to do this”, and I finish and get a 100.

Poem

Inside a deadly game
Beyond the real world
Along those who die
Going above the 100th floor
Seeing those who die
Meeting friends new and old
Eating food that is not real
Fighting the skull reaper
Killing the boss
Wake up

The French Horn Blog

Hey there, I’m Ryan, and this is now my 2nd at year WRMS band! And have been having a lot of fun. Playing the French horn is hard but fun. I would like to be a professional French horn player when I grow up. Right now we’re playing just random songs including our school fight song. We’re also currently rehearsing for the district competitions later next semester.

We have 4 concerts this year, one in the fall, the winter concert at WRMS, the spring concert, and the end of year concert at Fiesta Texas. We also have instrument section schedules. French horns are at 4:00 on Mondays, I like that it is on Mondays so I can get it over with. Some of the music we play are harder than pieces. Most of it has to do of how high the note is. the higher the note, the harder it is to play.

That is it. I hope you liked it.
